The first mobility for school was successfully completed
2019-2020 held in Kappeln, Germany
in the period 24 November to 1 December, in the context of
program on philanthropy and the title R.A.I.N.B.O.W. in which
participates for the second year in the 3rd Karpenisi Elementary School. The
school was represented by students Evangelia Triantafyllou,
Eleni-Anna Drosini, Basil Drosini and Matthew Lip. They were escorts
teachers Dimitrios Antoniou (principal), Constantia Barla
(Physical Education teacher) and Maria Tsiamsiouri (teacher
English Language and Program Coordinator).
Based on the program of our German partners, the Greek mission
along with those of Spain, Croatia, Poland and Finland
they toured the school grounds and attended classes
of various specialties. Contacting the German teacher
system and the way a school operates away from Greek
standards, we found that despite modern laboratories, advanced
equipment and excellent facilities, our schools do not lag behind
to a degree in the pedagogical competence of Greek teachers and
the educational practices applied.
The program also included presentations of the projects that
implemented by our students. Key topic of the current section
it was the cultivation of philanthropy and acquaintance with the books that
contain cooking recipes, thus combining reading with
creation. Throughout the quarter our students participated in
creative writing workshop (Action Theodora TziovaraMaria Tsiamtsiouris), cooking workshop (Action Manager Barla
Constantia) and wrote, illustrated and translated one
christmas story (Action Managers Xolia Christina - Maria
Tsiamtsiuri). Finally, Christmas customs and poems were presented
and songs from all countries (Action Manager Maria Tsiamtsiouris).
Aiming to get acquainted with the history and culture of the country that
We visited, the hosts had planned a visit to the village
and the Vikings Museum, a guided tour of Gottorf Castle and day trips
excursions and guided tours of nearby cities. In Flensburg we were close by
on the border with Denmark and we learned about the city's long history
visiting her naval museum. Students spent hours at
a museum of experiments where they had the freedom to touch the exhibits and
conduct experiments, thereby enhancing experiential learning. At Lubeck
we participated in a marzipan (almond paste) workshop, n
which is a local traditional product. A visit was also necessary
at the Christmas market. The trip ended with our stay
in Hamburg where we had the opportunity to visit the 3rd largest
Europe's port built on the banks of the Elbe River.
The appointment with our partners was renewed for mid March
Finland. In closing we would like to thank the Parents Club &
guardians of our school, OPASTE PE Evritania for
financial cover for the transportation of our shipments to and from
Athens, the parents of the students who participated in the mission and all
members of our school's teachers' club for his support
program.
